Our small student to instructor ratio, surf breaks away from the crowds, and our knowledgeable surf instructors create the ultimate surf experience. Whether you are on a solo surf mission, on a honeymoon, or looking to have a family beach day, we are here to cater to all your surf and stand up paddleboard needs!

Surf Lessons Ala Moana

Learn how to surf in a fun, supportive environment, where the water is warm and you have plenty of space to try out your new moves. At Ala Moana Beach Park, you’ll avoid the crowds and still remain close to your Waikiki hotel. Lessons include round-trip transportation from Waikiki hotels.

What To Expect

We’ll start with a land demonstration and move the lesson to the ocean. Depending on the student’s weight and ability, we’ll have the student go tandem surfing or surfing alongside the instructor. No matter what, the instructor will be with you every step of the way.

Please note group lessons are for good swimmers and athletes only. Not for those needing life jackets or extra attention.
There is an option to purchase the Go Pro Surf Videos and Photos that will capture your surfing moments! These prices are set for each day.

Private Surf: Private lessons are perfect for those who would benefit from a more personal lesson. Available in 1-hour and 2-hour lessons. All kids ages 3–12 surfing with Surf HNL must be booked under a private lesson. Depending on the child’s size and comfort, instructors will tandem SUP with the child to ensure that he or she is not only safe, but having lots of fun!
Exclusive Surf: Available in 1-hour and 2-hour lessons. A “just the two of you” surf lesson, perfect for couples and families. Instructor to student ratio of 1:2. Exclusive lessons are smaller and are aimed to those who want a lesson more private than a group lesson. Great for all surfing levels, more instructor attention also means more aid and more waves! Participants of EXCLUSIVE SURF lessons must be 13 years or older OR weigh over 100 pounds.
Group Surf: Available in 1-hour and 2-hour lessons, Instructor to student ratio will never be more than 1:4, Group lessons are designed to optimize fun, while also maintaining safety! Perfect for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers. Participants of GROUP SURF lessons should be 13–59 yrs or old, between 8–190 lbs (women), 85–220 lbs (men), be able to paddle their own surfboard back to their instructor with very little assistance.

Customers will receive a full refund with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
