Popoi’a Island Tour
This paddling tour sets off from the famous Kailua Beach and cruises through the calm, reef-protected waters of Kailua Bay. One of our trained naturalists will guide you on a 15 minute paddle through the beautiful blue waters to a close, offshore islet called Popoi’a. Along the way, you may see Kailua Bay’s most important resident, the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.
You will be able to land your kayak on Popoi’a island and take a walk around the island with your guide. After the walk-around tour, you may enjoy swimming and snorkeling on the surrounding reef. Your guide is also a master paddler and instructor so you will learn the fun and safe way to paddle your kayak and, if you choose, your guide will even teach you how to catch a few waves on your kayak.
After leaving Popoi’a, you will go for another short paddle on your sit-on-top kayak to another world-famous beach where you may enjoy more snorkeling with the local marine life or relax on the soft, white sand and soak up the sun rays. Your guide, well-versed in Hawaiian history, marine life and our island’s geological formations will tell stories and impart thought-provoking information about Hawaii that most visitors find very interesting. It will be a day to remember!
